This spiral bracelet was done with bead crochet
by my sister,
Traci O'Brien. Its wonderful texture and color mix makes it the
bracelet I wear most often. |

This
beaded portrait of Lucille Ball was woven by my sister,
Traci O'Brien. It was a combined effort with her doing the
beading and me reading off the color sequences from the pattern.
Although we altered the pattern a bit, the original was made by Dona Anderson
and was downloaded from her site, found at

I am peculiarly
blessed with not one, but two artist daughter-in-laws! One lives
in Portland, Oregon and the other in Albion, California.
The title of
this striking piece is
An Other
Trinity
painted in acrylics
and photo-reactive paints with
ceramic face by my daughter-in-
law, Lisa Lorton. It is one of several paintings in her series
Faces of the Gods. |

Another from the
Faces of the
Gods series
is
Illumination,
painted by Lisa for me and given at Yule 2004 in Portland. It is
difficult to get a photo to show the colors as they appear to the naked
eye because the photo-reactive paints do strange and interesting things
under the influence of camera flash and other lighting.
Nonetheless I love it in all its guises! |

I couldn't resist
at least one more from Lisa's prolific brush. This is Shimmery
Village.
It is another and even more pointed example of fractal characteristics
in painting, the first example being in her
An Other Trinity
above.
Perhaps I will
share more paintings from Lisa's gallery in the future. Her work
pushes me way out of the box! |

This and the next
two paintings are by Jenny Lorton, my first and now ex-daughter-in-law
(never ex in my heart though!). Although I know she gets tired of
painting grapes, this one always gets me because I can
smell
the summer-heated dust under the vines, I can feel the bursting of the
skin and
taste
the tart warm juice just by the quality of the light she has so
amazingly captured. |

Jenny's images
allude to mystery and women-stories in the sometimes prosaic items she
paints. This one is titled
Walk Away... |

Orchids,

Soon, perhaps, she
will allow me to post some of her more recent work. |
